Codgers
Codgers mountain bike park is located up the Brook valley, making it super easy to access from town. This is the best place in Nelson for begginers, having a range of tracks from easy to super gnarly, there's something to suit everyone. The trails coming of the front side of the hill towards the town tend to be a bit easier, and less steep, whilst the trails on the back side of the hill offer a bit more of a challenge.
Sharlands
Sharlands is the next easiest zone to access from Nelson town, being up the Miati valley. Its an easy pedal along the road, or a quick drive if you'd rather, to get up to the car park to ride from. Sharlands contains a few more technical trails, and will challenge even the most advanced of riders. There are still some intermediate level trails here too, but the begginer rider is best to avoid this particular location. The climb up to the Aeorere trail is long, although mercifully not that steep, and the reward is epic; its a must for the experianced rider.
Fringed
Fringed is the biggest of the three hills in Nelson, standing at just under 800m tall. Because of this, all the trails are considerably longer, but unfortunately so are the climbs! There are trails heading in both directions from the old DOC hut at the top of the hill, although be warned; this makes for one hell of a long day in the chair.
